Phillies manager Rob Thomson told reporters Bryce Harper (migraine) is feeling better and will return on Wednesday.

Thomson added that Harper’s migraine cleared up during Tuesday afternoon’s contest against the Mets to the point that he was available to pinch-hit. The 31-year-old fantasy superstar should return to Philadelphia’s lineup on Wednesday, barring something unexpected.
Zack Gelof

OAK Second Baseman #20

Athletics activated 2B Zack Gelof from the 10-day injured list.

Gelof makes his return to Oakland’s lineup following a nearly three-week absence recovering from a left oblique strain. The 24-year-old second baseman was off to a frosty start at the dish, slashing .196/.260/.337 with three homers and four steals in 101 plate appearances over 24 contests prior to landing on the injured list back in late April. Simply put, Gelof needs to cut back on the strikeouts moving forward if he’s going to make a major impact for fantasy managers as a power/speed threat at the keystone.

Rangers recalled RHP Jack Leiter from Triple-A Round Rock.

Leiter draws the starting assignment for Tueasday’s matchup against the Guardians and offers some appeal for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues due to his strikeout potential. The 24-year-old prospect isn’t for the risk-averse as he’s been hit hard in a pair of spot starts this season in his first taste of the majors. He’s been outstanding at Triple-A Round Rock, posting a sparkling 2.84 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 37/8 K/BB ratio across 25 1/3 innings (five appearances, four starts) in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League.
Aaron Nola

PHI Starting Pitcher #27

Aaron Nola pitched his fourth career shutout Tuesday with a four-hitter in the Phillies’ 4-0 win over the Mets.

Nola struck out eight and walked none in the 109-pitch outing. The shutout was nearly lost in the ninth, when Jeff McNeil doubled with one out and Starling Marte singled with two. Under other circumstances, McNeil might have tried to score on the hit to left, though it made no sense in the four-run game today. Nola’s shutout is the fifth by an MLB pitcher this year. Teammate Ranger Suárez had one of the others. Nola is now 5-2 with a 3.10 ERA.

Bryce Harper has been scratched from the lineup Tuesday due to a migraine.

Harper was slated to hit third for Tuesday’s game, but instead the two-time MVP will get Tuesday off while he recuperates. Alec Bohm moves over to first base with Whit Merrifield taking over at third. For now, Harper should be considered day-to-day.
Jasson Dominguez

NYY Center Fielder #89

Jasson Dominguez (elbow) is beginning his rehab assignment with Low-A Tampa on Tuesday.

Dominguez will begin facing competition as he works his way back from the Tommy John surgery he underwent in September. The 21-year-old will likely need to spend a couple of weeks — at least — playing minor-league games before having a chance to return to the New York lineup near the start of June. Dominguez is extremely talented, but he’s a very risky option for the 2024 season.
Kyle Schwarber

PHI Left Fielder #12

Kyle Schwarber (back) is hitting leadoff and and lined up as the designated hitter for Tuesday’s game against the Mets.

The hope was for Schwarber was that he would be able to return to the lineup Monday, but the Phillies held him out for one more day as a precaution; although he did appear as a pinch-hitter. He’ll look to do damage against Jose Butto and the Mets after missing time with his back ailment.
Kevin Newman

ARI Shortstop #18

Kevin Newman went 4-for-5 with a walkoff two-run single in the ninth inning to give the Diamondbacks a 6-5 win Monday over the Reds.

Newman poked a single to right to score a pair of runners and turned a potential 5-4 loss into a 6-5 win. The 30-year-old former first-rounder has hit just .253 even with those four hits, and what was once an intriguing fantasy prospect is now someone who can be ignored on waivers. Monday was a good one, however.
Jorge Polanco

SEA Second Baseman #7

Jorge Polanco was removed from Monday’s game against the Royals with tightness in his right hamstring.

Polanco exited the game and was replaced by Luis Urias, with Urias taking over at third and Josh Rojas moving to second. It’s a concerning development, especially for a hitter that has battled injuries over the last few years. There should be a further update on Polanco before Tuesday’s game against Kansas City.
George Kirby

SEA Starting Pitcher #68

George Kirby held the Royals to three hits with six strikeouts in seven shutout innings to help the Mariners to a win Monday by a 6-2 score.

After struggling for the majority of his start against the Twins, Kirby bounced back nicely. As is usually the case, he didn’t put on any runners via walk, and he pounded the strike zone with 68-of-101 pitches going for strikes. When Kirby doesn’t have his best stuff/command the results can be problematic. He usually does. Kirby will face the Orioles next.
