Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Eduardo Rodgriguez (lat) is close to beginning a throwing program.

Good news for the 31-year-old hurler. Lovullo also added that an MRI on Rodriguez’s lat is healing, but he’s still likely a month or so away from making his season debut.

LAA Third Baseman #6

Angels transferred Anthony Rendon (hamstring) to the 60-day injured list.

The 33-year-old veteran will miss an extended period of time after he suffered a hamstring injury a few weeks ago. The Angels are reportedly bringing in Luis Guillorme so it looks like he’ll take some reps at the hot corner as well as Miguel Sano, Luis Rengifo and Ehire Adrianza.

LAA Second Baseman #15

Daniel Álvarez-Montes of El Extrabase reports that the Angels are acquiring Luis Guillorme from the Braves.

The 29-year-old infielder signed a one-year deal with Atlanta in the offseason and only appeared in 10 games for the Braves this season slashing .150/.190/.250 with three RBI. It has not been reported what the Braves are getting in return for Guillorme, but he’ll be additional infield depth for the Angels this season.
Jordan Hicks

SF Starting Pitcher #12

Jordan Hicks allowed three runs with five strikeouts over five innings in a win over the Rockies on Wednesday.

After a clean first inning, a triple and a wild pitch brought the first run in to score for the Rockies in the second. Hicks ran into more trouble in the fifth, giving up two runs on four hits and a walk. His day was done after five frames on 92 pitches. He struck out five. The 27-year-old right-hander has enjoyed an early breakout as a starter, posting a 2.30 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and a 35/16 K/BB ratio across 43 innings. Hicks will take on the Dodgers in San Francisco on Monday.
Kyle Bradish

BAL Starting Pitcher #38

Kyle Bradish was outstanding in tough-luck no-decision against the Nationals on Wednesday night, racking up nine strikeouts over five stellar innings of one-run baseball.

The right-hander allowed just four hits and two walks on the night. The only run the Nationals were able to muster against him came on an RBI single by Trey Lipscomb in the second inning. Bradish got 12 swings and misses on 90 pitches on the night — five of those on his slider — while registering a CSW of 34 percent. He left the game with a 2-1 lead and in line for a victory, but the Orioles’ bullpen was unable to hang on for him. Bradish will tote an impressive 1.86 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and a 14/4 K/BB ratio (9 2/3 innings) into Tuesday’s showdown against the Blue Jays.
Chris Paddack

MIN Starting Pitcher #20

Chris Paddack allowed one run with 10 strikeouts across 5 1/3 innings in a win over the Mariners on Wednesday.

Paddack put together another solid start on Wednesday against the Mariners. He worked through three scoreless frames before Mitch Garver took him deep for a solo homer in the fourth. Paddack got out of trouble with two baserunners in the fifth, and got one out in the sixth before his day was done. He struck out 10 batters for the second time this season, generating a whopping 19 whiffs. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a 4.34 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, and a 37/8 K/BB ratio across 37 1/3 innings into a start against the Yankees in Minnesota on Tuesday.
Nathaniel Lowe

TEX First Baseman #30

Nathaniel Lowe went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs scored, and a pair of walks in the Rangers’ 12-11 win in the second game of a doubleheader against the Athletics on Wednesday.

Lowe drew a walk in the third inning and scored on a base hit by Jonah Heim. He brought two more runs in to score for Texas with a base hit in the fourth. Lowe reached again with a walk in the eighth and scored on a single by Josh Smith before adding a third RBI with a single in the ninth. The 28-year-old first baseman is slashing .328/.438/.448 with one homer, 12 runs scored, and 10 RBI across 80 plate appearances.
Chris Flexen

CWS Starting Pitcher #77

Chris Flexen delivered a dominant performance in Wednesday’s victory over the Rays, racking up eight strikeouts over six innings of one-run baseball.

The 29-year-old right-hander scattered just three hits and one walk on the evening. The only blemish on his day came in the form of an RBI double by Isaac Paredes in the fourth inning. Flexen generated 12 swings and misses on 96 pitches in the ballgame — five on his fastball — while posting a CSW of 30 percent. He now holds a 4.29 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and a 25/13 K/BB ratio over 35 2/3 innings in eight appearances (six starts) on the season. He’s likely to take on the Nationals his next time out on Monday.
Juan Soto

NYY Left Fielder #22

Juan Soto went 3-for-5 with a home run and five RBI to lead the Yankees to a 9-4 victory over the Astros on Wednesday.

Soto put the Yankees on the board in the first inning with a solo blast off Spencer Arrighetti. He drove in another run with a single in the second, then plated a run with a groundout in the sixth. Soto made it five RBI on the day with a base hit in the eighth. The 25-year-old star outfielder is hitting an outstanding .333/.434/.583 with nine homers 26 runs scored, 32 RBI, and four steals across 173 plate appearances.
Carlos Rodon

NYY Starting Pitcher #55

Carlos Rodón allowed two runs with seven strikeouts across 6 1/3 innings in a win over the Astros on Wednesday.

Rodón served up a solo homer to Kyle Tucker in the first inning. He settled in nicely, tossing five more scoreless frames. Rodón went back out for the seventh gave up a run on two hits before his day was done with one out in the frame. He struck out seven on an impressive 16 whiffs. It was a nice bounceback effort for the 31-year-old left-hander. He’ll take a 3.56 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and a 43/14 K/BB ratio across 43 innings into a start against the Twins in Minnesota on Tuesday.
